Back in 2002, I met my friend Lance Ware for the first time. He was making his first visit to my office as my financial products advisor for State Farm. He brought a batch of these cookies with him for me and the ladies at my office. We loved them! His wife Jennifer had made them and of course I had to have the recipe. She graciously obliged. The only variation we’ve made is adding some type of chip. We’ve added butterscotch and milk chocolate, but I think our favorite is white chocolate. I don’t have a big sweet tooth, but I love making these for my Friday friends that do.
White House Cookies
Ingredients and Directions:
Cream -
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Then add -
1 cup oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir together and add to creamed mixture -
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
Then add -
1 cup Rice Krispies
1 cup coconut
1 cup quick oats
1 cup chopped nuts
Form dough into patties and press them down on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes, until golden brown. Honestly, my favorite cookie. It's a little chewy on the outside, but crispy on the inside.
John and Dan both have a sweet tooth and love it when White House Cookies show up at our Friday Night Porch Party.
