Who doesn’t love a good meatball? I recently made some for Friday Night Porch Party, and my friend Sharon asked if they were store bought or homemade. All I could do was simply look at her. Really? These are so much better than store bought. I realize these meatballs have a ton of ingredients but don’t be intimidated. You will have most of the ingredients in your kitchen. It is so worth the extra effort.
Porch Party Meatballs
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1 small onion, chopped finely
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated parmesan
Splash of milk
Couple of dashes of Worcestershire
Couple of dashes of hot sauce
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1/4 cup Zatarain's creole mustard
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
For the sauce:
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
A couple of dashes of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using your hand, combine all the meatball ingredients. Roll the meat mixture into 1 inch balls and place on a large baking sheet with edges. Bake about 30 minutes until cooked through and brown. Transfer to a large casserole dish. In a separate bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients mixing well. Pour the sauce over the meatballs. Bake about 30 minutes. Serve with tooth picks.
