Mississippi Come Back Dressing

Comeback dressing is a Mississippi favorite, and rightfully so, since the recipe originated at the Rotisserie, a Greek restaurant that was in Jackson, Mississippi. The Rotisserie was before my time, but many southern restaurants have a little bowl of this dressing on the table with a basket of captain’s wafers, perfect for a little pre dinner snack. There’s usually a jar in our fridge at any given time. Many claim to have the very best recipe, but I like mine the best. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Mississippi Come Back Dressing

Ingredients:

1 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 cup chili sauce

1/4 cup olive oil

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2-3 good dashes of hot sauce

Juice of 1 lemon

Salt to taste

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Transfer to a pint jar and store in the refrigerator for weeks. Great on anything!

Mississippi Come Back Dressing will last for weeks in the refrigerator.
