It’s just not a Morgan Halloween without chili dogs and chili cheese nachos. Since the children were babies, that’s been our standard Halloween meal before hitting the streets to trick or treat. When we first moved down to Madison, I set up a hot dog stand in our driveway to share with our neighbors. It was so fun! Add these to your Halloween menu. Your friends and family will love you for it!
Halloween Hot Dog Chili
Ingredients:
1 pound ground chuck
1 sweet onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons chili powder
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a Dutch oven, brown the meat with the onions. Drain off the fat and return to the pot. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for about an hour. Adjust seasonings to your liking. I like mine a little sweeter. Make the day ahead if possible. I run my submersible blender through the chili so it’s smooth for hot dogs.
This recipe can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled depending on your crowd.
